drabble: softening into safety, pg

ficadron that I really loved and suddenly my brain just...blurted this out.
This follows Rescue Me and Kiss Away The Pain.
Title: Softening into Safety
Rating: PG
Word Count: ~395
Warning: Angst? I guess? IDK.
Ron eases off of Draco and sits up in bed. With the back of a freckle-spattered hand, he wipes quickly across his eyes. Draco pretends not to notice.
"Do you still smoke?" the blond asks, turning his attention to the ceiling. The mirror that he'd dared Ron to mount there is gone - a long, thin crack has taken its place.
"I keep a few around for emergencies, but I haven't really smoked since--" His body stiffens for the briefest of moments, then relaxes. He turns to Draco and finishes, quietly, "Well, you know."
Draco knows, and he knows Ron well enough not to say anything more. Granger had passed away years ago. "May I have one?"
"Yeah." The redhead levers from the bed, not bothering to cover himself.
Draco's eyes move over Ron's body, over the scars that twine along most of his skin. The old, from years of training and injury, and the new, bright pink lines that stretch over Ron's shoulder blades. He feels a dark kind of satisfaction from marking him, again.
Ron slides back under the covers and offers Draco a cigarette. The blond notes that he's also taken one for himself.
They light, smoke, breathe and be.
Ron stubs out his own in a tiny glass ashtray, then holds his hands in his lap. His hands are shaking a little, and Draco senses that he has something to say. "I..."
"Yes?"
"I... Never mind."
Draco rolls his eyes. "Spit it out, Weasley." The other man remains quiet, and Draco moves to leave the bed.
"I miss you," Ron blurts.
The words are quiet -- so soft that Draco could pretend not to hear them, but they've wound their way into his ears and around his fragile heart, and he stills.
"I know I shouldn't," Ron stammers on. "I know you don't care."
Emotion churns inside him, stirring awake feelings that he'd believed to be long buried. For this, Draco hates Ron. He loves him for the same reason. "Ron..."
Ron moves closer - Draco can hear the rustle of the sheets. He rests his mouth on Draco's shoulder. "I know. I just. Stay."
Draco's chest tightens. He closes his eyes. His head tilts against Ron's and inhales the scent of his hair. "Ron."
"Stay with me."
Strong arms encircle Draco, and he softens into their safety.
"Alright."

Well, lemme see what I can come up with. Would a drabble be alright? I do have an image in my head of Ron doing something naughty with watercolor paints, but it's hard to build any kind of plot around it -- it would really be just porn. :p
