Hello lovely flist!
I'm looking for music recommendations. I've got an iTunes card and I'm dying to use it.
What are you all listening to out there? What's tickling your fancy (or whatever else you like to have tickled)?
Right now, I'm kind of obsessed with The Pierces, thanks to
andbeloved, but I'll listen to just about anything twice. Also on heavy rotation is Jason Mraz, Tori Amos, Bjork, Gnarls Barkley, Kanye West & Beyonce' (who knew?)
So, recommenz me some artists and tell me why you like them so much. Please? &hearts

Date: 2008-04-02 07:48 pm (UTC)The Cat Empire - Australian pop-type group, that has some elements of rap, and a big Cuban jazz influence. Sounds odd, but really good. 2 lead singers, one of which is super hot.
Nicole Atkins - I think if you like Tori, you'll like her, although the style is very different. Her orchestrations are very lush, and her melodies are actually complex. Not your basic pop, but she fits on the tail end of that catagory - I've also seen her listed as "psychedellic".
The Puppini Sisters - Totally off the wall, not at all my normal thing, yet.... They are 3 sisters who sing a la Andrews Sisters - 1930's girl band harmonies. They do a lot of the classics, like Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, In The Mood, Heart of Glass, I Will Survive.... Yeah. :) Their second disk, which I don't have, also has Walk Like an Egyptian and Crazy in Love.
All of these can be found on You Tube, Amazon, iTunes, etc. Have fun!
