Date: 2010-08-04 08:41 am (UTC)They will grow up knowing that there is nothing wrong or unnatural about two people of the same sex showing affection toward each other. I'm trying to instill that in my own kids and yeh, okay, it may be a bit frivolous and self-indulgent that I'm doing it by sharing fanvids and YouTube clips from my favourite shows, but it introduces it at a level that they understand and besides it's fun ;) (there's a particular Brokeback Mountain one that makes me cry every time and when they see I'm watching it there's no 'why are two men kissing?', just lots of rolling of the eyes and passing over of tissues)
Of course that said I'm constantly second-guessing myself about stuff like this, wondering if I'm being a 'bad' parent (I had an epic freak outover taking my 9 year old to a Pink concert!!). It's what we do. right?!
Also your clips have made me very jealous that we don't get ATWT over here (there's something I never thought I'd say ;)

Date: 2010-08-04 10:43 am (UTC)THEY'LL BE FINE. I've been watching Star Wars since I was four, and I'm fine. (not that Star Wars was gay, but it may have been a little violent/scary for a four year old, but me and my brother loved it, much to my dad's pride.)
