I HOPE EVERYONE HAD A WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING AND ATE WAY TOO MUCH FOOD.

and now a meme. :)

You know how sometimes people on your friendslist post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute? Since when were they working THERE? Since when were they dating HIM/HER? Since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

1. First Name
Ramona. I was named after my father's second cousin or something -- not because she was particularly special in my parents' lives, but because my mom really liked the name. I used to really hate it, though, because the only other 'Ramona' people of my peer group knew anything about was the character from the Beverly Cleary books, so I was 'Ramona the Pest' through most of elementary school. D: And then there's the whole matter of people spelling it wrong. It's Ramona, R-A-M-O-N-A. Really, it's spelled just like it sounds. But, I like my name now -- it's pretty and sort of unique.

True story? I was almost 'Paris.' WHAT.

2. Age
34. I'm probably older than a lot of my LJ friends. I do seem to get on well with people younger than myself. My husband is the first guy I dated that was older than me. :p I'd like to know why I find myself attracted to men (boys, really) that are at least 7-10 years YOUNGER than me.

3. Location
Michigan, United States. I moved here from Maryland just over 10 years ago.

4. Occupation
I'm an office manager.

5. Partner?
I've been married to fmh for a little over four years. We met at B-Fest five years ago, and really, it was love at first sight.

6. Kids
GOOD LORD, I HAVE FOUR. Two stepdaughters, Hokulani (13) and Maluhia (9), and my own two, Kieran (4) and Kendra (9 months). I love them all dearly, and they all drive me nuts. ♥

Hoku is the artist - she sings, draws and plays the alto saxophone. She's very smart, but can be a bully about it sometimes. She's my introspective one. Malu is the free spirit and social butterfly. She makes friends very easily and is always bounding around. She's very loving, sometimes overbearingly so -- Malu's fuzzy on the concept of "personal space." Kieran might be my genius -- he's super smart for a four-year-old, I think. Very tough in body and very much a boy. He had weird habits, like changing his clothes 189839 times a day, and if he gets near a bottle of lotion or creme, it will be EVERYWHERE in a matter of minutes. But he always smells good, which he will tell you. And good God, that boy's got a terrible temper. He literally GROWLS when he's not happy. Kendra is my baby, of course. She's very happy and curious, and has a smile like Christmas. If she's unhappy, though, she'll let you know in no uncertain terms. She's a mommy's baby and will often pass right over Daddy to get to me. (The other three are all Daddy's babies.)

7. Brothers/Sisters
One younger brother, Charles. He doesn't have an LJ.

After my husband, my brother is my best friend. We're really close, and when I was little, I often told people that I was going to marry him when I grew up. He has a slight mental handicap, so I'm very protective of him. My brother is the one who introduced me to the hilariousness that is 'Overdrawn at the Memory Bank.'

8. Pets
A cat, Linus, and 2 degus...they belong to the girls, and I'll be honest, I couldn't tell you their names. :/

9. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life
a. The kids. The kids are ALWAYS going on.
b. Writing.
c. Trying to get back into singing.

10. Parents
I adore my parents. And they also get on my goddamned nerves. I admire the fact that, in spite of EVERYTHING they've been through, they're still together.

11. Some of your closest friends
Okay, these are in no kind of order. But these are just some people that I'm thankful to have in my life, be it in person or online.

Degus are these little rodents native to Chile. We first got them four years ago from a friend of ours whose mother raises them -- two girls.

Or at least, they thought we'd gotten two girls. And then we got degu babies. At one point, we had like eight of them, I think, but through the years they've all passed save for two boys. And they are both boys -- I learned how to tell the difference. :p
