last night i rented 'watchmen' because i won't have enough funds to buy it until tomorrow. kieran was watching it with us, sort of.
he's only 3, so he doesn't get a lot of it.

anyway, when ozy came up on the dvd menu, [livejournal.com profile] fmh asked him who it was, and kieran said, "'das ozymandias."
this didn't surprise me -- i've taught him the names of all the watchmen because he asked me. :shrugs:

what completely blew my mind was that not a minute after he said "ozymandias,"
he said "david bowie."

O_O

MY GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE?

IKR?

But, in a way, he's also learning about tolerance and acceptance of other peoples lifestyles and that's good, right? RIGHT?

hehe. You're training the boy up right.

I was babysitting a 5-year-old cousin once, and we were watching Labyrinth. Half way through 'Magic Dance', he stood up and pointed at the screen and asked me "Are you sure this is a kids movie? Look at his pants." as he palmed the screen right over tight-clad Bowie Crotch.

Oh yes. Train them up early. :D

Yup. We're bringing them up right. :nods:

"Are you sure this is a kids movie? Look at his pants."

LOLOLOL YOUR COUSIN IS AWESOME.

My son LOVES Labyrinth. He calls it "Dance Magic Dance." <3

Kieran: "Wanna watch 'Dance Magic Dance' with me?"

That. Is so awesome. If I ever were to have kids, I'd want one like that.

And maybe not buying watchmen is a good thing. I have the dvd and a few days ago, I watched it three times in a row and then once more when I couldn't sleep that night. I fail majorly at appearing relatively non-obsessed.

LOL! I failed completely at that, and in the end just gave it up. I saw it in the theatre four times.

No, I'm definitely buying the DVD...I have to support my habit. :twitches:

Guh, I need the verbal smackdown scene now. I'm off to YouTube. :p

Whahaha. Yeah, I went to see twice, then obsessively watched a cam version for 2 months and finally got the dvd, which hasn't left the dvdplayer since. omg. that's actually true. *fails some more*

Then Ozymandias here, will be the smartest man on the cinder.

My friend and I decided that Jeffrey Dean Morgan's voice is made of sex. And then some. ;P

I've watched it so many times since it came out at the cinema that I've completely lost count. But it's in the 20 something region probably. I am so lame. :)
However, I think I'd appear relatively non obsessed outside of livejournal.

You have awesome kids. :D

I'm...I'm actually waiting to get Watchmen. I saw the version that's coming out around Christmas with every single extra known to man on it and I said that's the one for me. It will be worth the wait.

I did look while I was at Best Buy yesterday, though. They had a Comedian action figure. A COMEDIAN ACTION FIGURE. No Ozy though.

I didn't know about the spiffy extra-special Christmas bonus version. I'll probably buy that one, too.

Yes. "Too."

I'm too much of a junkie to not get it now. :p

The Comedian action figure is the only other one I want. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHY.

Ultimate deception vs ultimate honesty. Imagine the epic battles on your desk! Ron and Draco would learn so much.

>:D

I'm a bad influence.

Don't despair. This only means that your son is exceptionally bright. My kids are slow. XD I'll listen to Bowie in the car, and they've connected him to Jereth, but that's about it.

And huzzah for the DVD. <3 I loved so much of it. Needs moar Ozy, though. >:[ I want his backstory. Adrian throwing off his clothes while under the influence of hashish.

My son loves Labyrinth, but I don't think he makes the connection between Bowie and Jareth.

Then again, I didn't think he'd ever make the connection between Bowie and Adrian, so what do I know?

Adrian throwing off his clothes while under the influence of hashish.

Which reminds me. Guess who went through his own little Egyptology phase? Mmmmm? With sphinxes outside his house and crap?

LOL! Srsly? XD I wonder if he saw the film... wish there was some way to ask him.

Behold my userpic of awesome. Still feeling really spoiled about the whole paid account thing. <3

I have... a beginning of your fic. I've been dealing with some kind of writer's block that I haven't really had to wrestle with in a while, but I think I'm past the worst of it. Right now, I'm doing my best to try to make Adrian talk dirty to Blake. And have Blake respond with something other than laughter. XD

Ho yus. Tonight, I'll go back through the Bowie biography I just finished to see exactly what it said, but yes. He went thru a whole period researching Egyptian mythos (especially stuff revolving around death/afterlife and such), lit black candles in his house and yes, he had two sphinx statues outside "protecting" his home in L.A.

I was so excited, I nearly peed. =^_^=

Like I said, you deserved a paid account. I'm just glad I was able to do it.

And have Blake respond with something other than laughter. XD

But that's PERFECT! :p
