I'm so glad I asked for opinions yesterday. If the response hasn't been so positive, I probably wouldn't have made the effort to watch it. I'd be missing out on something really brilliant.
I haven't watched House lately, because I just don't have TV in my home. However, when I WAS a TV junkie I watched House every week. I love the character of Dr. House, Hugh L. plays him so wonderfully.
We recently had a discussion in another group that I belong to about House, MD. It seems that a lot of the fans of the show, and especially the fans of that character, all have addiction issues in their lives - whether their own addictions or the addictions of a loved one.
I think it's because people who are familiar with addictions can better relate to him and his attitude. I didn't want to like him, because he reminds me in a very subtle way of people in my life.

While we were watching it last night, fmh kept asking me, "I'm not like this guy, am I?"
I told him honestly, "Sometimes you are, babe. You get into this 'I know everything and you don't' mode which makes me want to strangle you. But I love you anyway." :)
