How in the bloody hell did Kwame Kilpatrick swoop up and WIN the mayoral election?!

But...he...but...

I was going to write a bit of a blog about that....including links about all the reasons I didn't think he should be around. First thing I went looking for....the "alleged" party at Manoogian. So, here I go, poking through links....and find almost NOTHING. None of the nasty Freepress articles I'd read before, Nothing.

Okay, this whole thing worries me a LOT.

Plus, what about all of those ballots, with that Jackie Currie chick? Does nobody else wonder if other things were fixed besides just her own election?

Kwame needs to grow up. Too bad Detroit's gonna have to pay for another round of his high school.

I would feel sorry for Detroit, but since they voted him back in, they pretty much asked for it.

I would be surprised, but this is the same city that kept voting Young back into office.

What?? You mean that Young wasn't just da bomb?

Honestly, I think that Archer was the best thing to happen to that city in a long time, and that the city would have been better off if he hadn't decided to give up.

On the other hand, I can't say I blame him, either. All of the side politics going on probably drove him nuts.

With the news last night on 'technical glitches' delaying the vote count... I smell fraud.

What kills me is that Hendrix has said that he's not planning on asking for a recount. With all the crap going on right now, he damn well BETTER ask for a recount!

There are two issues here.

One is how well Hendrix reached the disadvantaged of the city. Hendrix apparently did a lot of "look at my website for my plan for Detroit", which doesn't help the folks who have no internet access. Toward the end of the race he did more to talk about why Kilpatrick wasn't fit than he did to promote his plan for the city. Many of Detroit's blacks are quick to react when anyone screams "racism" or "lynching", and paints someone as the "white man's candidate", and they did that quite a bit to Hendrix. Hendrix also did poorly in the debates, and the Kilpatrick family took advantage of their time on the pulpit during the Rosa Parks funeral, which was absolutely tacky, but it probably helped Kilpatrick more than anyone thought it would.

The second issue is Currie, who thankfully lost her bid for re-election. The criminal investigation is underway, and I suspect quite a few of the votes will turn out to be fraudulent. However, I don't think there will be enough bogus votes to overcome the numbers, and Kilpatrick probably ended up legitimately winning, even without the bogus votes.

If there is enough of a disparity between the actual total and the total with the bogus votes, there may be grounds for a new runoff election.

My hubby mentioned something about the FBI already investigating vote fraud- and had ordered that all absentee ballots be sequestered for examination PRIOR to the actual vote. So this vote may not hold.
