you know, i'd kinda forgotten too. and then i was signing up for an organizing day, and realized i'd signed up for tomorrow. what a better way to spend 9/11, then by meeting with fellow union members, educating them on the issues, and helping to start a strike at my university? :)
There was an article I read a week or so ago about a girl who is knitting one quilt per every soldier that has died over in Iraq. In the article, she was quoted as saying, "...nobody wants another 9/11...", to which I thought, "Girly, there's going to be a 9/11 every year whether you want it or not."
I hate this 9/11 crap myself, like suddenly the date is synonymous with the disaster. September 11th, 2001 was a pretty fucking bad day, but 9/11 itself is just a damn date that comes once every year, and has nothing to do with terrorists or misery.
Sorry, Mona dear, we have so NOT moved on. Haven't you heard Dubya? He's still fucking using 9/11 as an impetus for this disgusting amount of funding for these stupid military aggressions he's getting us into.
I think that we have been allowed to forget about it in that it is not mentioned every 30 seconds on the news or with some fundraiser or the like. Not having it thrust in our faces incessantly has let it fade a bit. Not forgotten, but not our first thought either.
