I have a "mix record" of Disney tunes from different movies, and one of them was the disco version of Mickey Mouse Club. I recorded it onto a tape and I remember standing in the middle of my bedroom with a pair of folded-up socks as a microphone, singing along. I also sang along to "Someone's Waiting for You" from the Rescuers. I loved that stuff. :)
You should see the Cinderella and Snow White records I have - the records themselves have gorgeous pictures all over both sides. I should have 'em appraised.
I used to have the Rescuers album, as well as Pete's Dragon. The rescuers one always scared me, because I'd read along while it played, and the little girl trapped in the hole trying to pry the gem loose was scary, and those people were so mean to her.
I didn't have the book, so I left it to my imagination to make the pictures. They were vaguely reminiscent of what would become Silence of the Lambs. *shudder*
As scared as I would get, I still loved listening to it.
...The Rescuers Down Under just didn't have the same magic.
I also remember having the Annie and Ghostbusters soundtracks, but for some stupid, stupid reason which I cannot recall anymore, I got rid of all of my 78s. Except for the American Tail soundtrack. No clue why I kept that one. Kept all of the 45s I ever had, though. And have a new collection of 78s with cool stuff like the Beatles.
Jeebus. I used to have those exact same records when I was a kid. Listened to them ALL the time. I think The Rescuers was one of those 'read along' dealies, which I used to love.
I cannot say one good thing about that Howard The Duck movie in the early 80's, but I was willing to pay fifty dollars to get a framed movie poster of it.
Well, if any, George Lucas is as good of a director as Steven Spielberg...with noted flaws. Ol' Georgie is a fanatic of special effects, whereas Steve doesn't know when to end the movie.
But I likeed da Howard The Duck because of the duck costume, and Lea Thompson.
nope. not even joking. my FP record player is covered in Jem stickers. My favorite song on the disco album had something to do with Goofy. He would fall or slip and ruin everything and all the ladies were supposed to "watch out!"
i definately still have mickey mouse disco on vinyl, along with a bunch of sesame street records, an electric company record, and the fischer-price record player those records weren't mine 'cause i'm only 22, they were my sisters but after i got over my intense fear of record players (around the age of 5), i rocked out to that shit   :)
