"I call for all my Arab brothers to rise up in arms against The West led by The United States and its Zionist allies." ... "We should not rest till we have bathed in their blood in victory."

This, and 18 UN resolution violations kind of spell it out, I think.
I don't pretend to know all the details, and I don't claim to be positive that the US has only good (overall) intentions here, but how can a man be like this be stopped-except through death? I may be completely naieve, and I'll admit that openly, but I'd like to think that when he's finally dead and gone, these people will be able to pass some semblance of freedom down to their loved ones. Yes, some will die. Yes, some will suffer. I'm not happy about that, or ever in support of hurting people at all, but I don't think a time out in his bedroom is going to make this prick quit torturing his own people.
I hate this cliche, but you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. (and if you've seen the movie CLUE, the next line goes, "But look what happened to the cook!")
Oh I'm ignorant too...I don't know what the connection is, either-if there really is one. I've heard a few reasonable-sounding theories, but I don't even remember them now. *shrug* I dunno. I am just so tired of hearing everyone use their freedom of speech to bash the country that provides them with this freedom. I know you weren't doing that, by the way..I'm frustrated. I don't enjoy the thought of innocent lives being lost any more than the next guy.
Ah, Clue. Funny funny movie. I like the part where they're moving the cook's body and Wadsworth walks by and says "Careful, don't get blood on the sofa."

Date: 2003-03-20 05:24 am (UTC)I still don't understand how we went from "Kill Osama!" to "Kill Saddam!". I'm sure there are connections, but it just seemed really quick.
Almost like, "well, we can't find Osama, so we'll get Saddam." I dunno. I've prolly revealed just how ignorant I truly am. *sigh*
Maybe I just don't want to know. :(
