The other day, Fred mentioned the song "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and we were talking about the opening.

You know, the "you know Dasher and Dancer and Joe and Schmo." (I know their names, just didn't feel like typing them.) And after all that, then it says, "but do you recall the most famous reindeer of all?"

Well, I don't know about you, but Rudolph was the only friggin' reindeer I did know. He had a song written about him, for cripes' sake! I didn't know any of those other reindeer dudes until the song.

It just seems kinda silly, now that I've spent *way* too much time thinking about it.

"...and with that, we cue the music."

The funny thing is, the singer has to ASK if we recall the most famous reindeer of all. We shouldn't need a prompt to remember something famous...

Exactly.

It's just silly.

What I don't get is how he could be famous if he didn't exist until the song was written. So the only logical answer to the question posed in the intro is no. Rational minds did not prevail at its creation.

No, they certainly didn't.

My brain broke down trying to figure it out.
