[livejournal.com profile] crwilley, here is that picture of Luna wearing the scarf. I knew I had it somewhere. :)

I thought the movie was excellent. David Yates has done a fabulous job here. He's managed to pull together the visual beauty that was PoA and the crisp storytelling that was in GoF, and it came out beautifully. I know he's signed on to direct HBP, and I hope he'll stick around for the movie version of DH.

Surprisingly, I didn't miss "Weasley is our King" one bit.

Daniel Radcliffe's Harry has improved so much! I was really impressed with the range he's able to display now. I actually like Harry now. PLZ DON'T KILL HIM. DO NOT WANT.

I'll admit, when I first heard that Imelda Staunton was going to be playing Umbridge, I was uneasy. I thought she was going to be too mousy for that part. I am happily disproved -- her Umbridge is spot-on. She's like a pink, saccharine-laced confection that hurts your teeth when you first bite into it, only to chew and chew and discover that the inside has gone rotten, but your mother makes you finish it anyway. Delightfully evil.

I AM COMPLETELY IN LOVE WITH EVANNA LYNCH'S LUNA.

My only disappointment with the casting was Natalia Tena as Tonks. She was just ill-suited for the part in my opinion. Thankfully, she's not on screen very long.

Emma Watson's eyebrows kicked into gear about 4-5 seconds after she appeared. Bleh.

I'm kind of mad that Bellatrix was only in the movie for five seconds. It was a hot five seconds though.

Okay. Now.

David Yates, you have my eternal thanks for getting Ron Weasley right. You all know how much I adore Rupert Grint, not to mention my love for the character of Ron, but Movie!Ron has always left me disappointed story-wise.

Not this time. Ron is Ron -- funny, awkward, and scared but willing to be one of the first to stand by his friend. In the scene where fellow Gryffindors, particularly Seamus, are kind of laying into Harry about lying about Voldemort's return, Ron's stands beside Harry to defend him -- ready to take on anyone who might even think about browbeating Harry. *wistful sigh* I love him so much.

And oh man. He looked so fecking good.

I went with my non-squeeing friends, and I think I did very well for the most part at keeping the squee inside. There were two moments where it came out, though.

The second was when Hermione called Ron clever and he said, "It's been known to happen." Yeah. I squeed. I couldn't help it; that was a really hot moment for me.

The first (and yes, I realise I did them out of order) was during Harry's first Occulemency lesson, surprisingly. The interaction between Harry and Snape was incredibly hot, and for a moment -- a very brief moment -- I had seriously considered reading some Snarry.

[livejournal.com profile] mightyafrodite and I are planning to see it next week, and we'll do the HP Squee Team version then. I can't wait. *flails*
