okay you gadget people

i need some help with my daughter's ipod.

she has an ipod classic, and the 'very low battery' screen is coming up and it NEVER GOES AWAY.

now, i've been told that it has to mount in order to charge, if it's not charging...then it can't mount...? idek.

so, any ideas on what could be happening? does it need a new battery or somesuch thing?

feh.

so, i lost my round over at the ficadron. i won't pretend that i'm not disappointed.

but!

i did get wonderful feedback - one comment pointed out a canonical blunder that i'd made, so i'm very grateful for that! - and it lost by only three votes, so i guess it held its own pretty admirably. i'm proud of it regardless, so i'm going to post it now that's it been revealed. :)
