Star Search!
Apr. 21st, 2005 08:36 amThat's the name of Hoku's play we went to see yesterday.
My goodneth. Cutest. Thing. Evar.
The gist of the play is this: theeight nine planets (stoner Pluto shambles in a little later) are spinning out of orbit and colliding with each other because they've lost the Sun. She's going to Andromeda for vacation. The planets go on a "Star Search" go find their Sun. Because the planets are screwy, the moons and stars are all lost too.
The kids wore different colored shirts and had signs telling us which planet they were. Hoku was Mercury, the part she'd been wanting since forever. The moons wore white and the stars wore yellow, both with matching hats, which a local paint company provided for free. :)
They sang six or seven little song and dance numbers in there too. I'm a sucker for a musical. Songs like "We Didn't Planet This Way." How can you NOT find that cute, I ask you? The kids had a great time. You could tell they were geeked about being on stage and having their parents there to see it.
Hoku did beautifully, and I'm not just saying that because she's my baby. She really did. I am so proud of her. I cried a little when she sang her solo. I'm telling you, she could be a great actress some day. You know. If that's what she wants to do.
I asked her to autograph a picture for me when we got home. :)
My only regret was that we didn't have a camera. I would have loved to send some pics to her grandparents. I think I may check if other parents who took pictures might be willing to make extra prints for me.
