It didn't bother me quite so much, knowing that she's 13 and is a new comer to posting online. She's also not a typer, and that will improve as she practices.
She's definitely getting encouragement. One of the things that I love about the R/D community is that we're like a little family in a lot of ways -- most us have friended one another at some point, and we rally around our own, especially as they're just finding their writing voice, so to speak.
I'm not one to brag, but I think that one small reason folks have been so encouraging is because she's my baby, and let's face it, I'm such a R/D booster. :p
All that being said, when are you going to start writing down all those yummy R/D ideas you keep giving to me? ;)
I'm not going to think about it until after I finish getting the essentials done for my grad school applications. Then, we'll see. I'll need you as a Beta, because you know about the lingo that has evolved beyond the series.
That's good... I know I was reading Smut way before I should've and now I wish I hadn't... Good that she has a mother who is aware of such things, cause mine I don't think even knows what Fanfic is...
You and your daughter are amazing! Omg I know it's about R/D lovin' but omg I can't help but go beyond that and admire you for being an amazing mom and your daughter for actually dipping in and trying (and she will get better as time goes <3).
Wow. Your daughter is already writing R/D? What a marvelous, and oh-so-you thing to have happen. Congrats to her and for letting us know about it! I did have to laugh at the "no NC-17" comment. I really didn't have any true clue about that kind of stuff until about age 14 or 15, but I was also a late bloomer. ;)
Actually, it's a picture from a yaoi manga called "Lies & Kisses." The main characters are a blond and brunet, but in that one shot, the brunet looks more like a redhead and so... :)
I'm sorry I'm doing this in a comment but due to many reasons I tend to not acknowledge b-days. But I did try to send you something but lj and my accounts got wonky and I gave up. So HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Can I just say I admire you as a mum so much. And you must be so bloody proud right now! That drabble rocked :)
Your daughter has clearly inherited her mum's writing talent.
Most of all I just think it's amazing that she can share this with you. I find myself fighting against my own fairly repressed Catholic upbringing a great deal lately, especially in relation to my own two daughter - 6&8 years - so my admiration for you holds no bounds. I try to be as open and upfront with them about things, including discussing homosexuality etc but I haven't braved the whole 'slash' thing yet.
It's pretty awesome that you've been able to share your love of writing and fandom with her! Hee, still trying to get my little girl excited about reading. Writing is totally going to be the next step. ;)

See, I was just the opposite -- I was very aware of my sexual self at a fairly young age. Younger than Hoku, actually.
But yeah, no NC-17 stuff. I'm trusting her to use good judgment with all of this, and if she breaks that trust, it's all done.
BTW, it's KILLING her that she can't read the majority of your stuff. She's mightily intrigued by the big book of Thev fanfic I carry in my bag. ;p

(Seriously, that was fab. She should be proud.)
