I know I took forever too. My brother used to push me on my bike until one day he was pushig me in a big circle around my mom in the yard (and it was always him wanting me to ride and being willing to push me, not me wanting to ride, go fig) and my mom was like 'stop it! she's gotta do it on her own!' and so he let go... and that was it!
I was probably about Malu's age too.
On the upside, I had my license by 16, so I didn't take forever for *that*. :)
