Yeah, I'm a big n00b to fanfic, too. Only been into it for about a year now (maybe a little less, even). I got all my smut from books before that. ;)
In my book, Watchmen has no villians. :p I've never actually tried to face the answer to that question: is what he does right? That's why I'm not too interested in any post-novel fanfic. Because I don't want to know. I don't want to know if his Eutopia succeeds or if Rorschach's journal fucks up everything.
Ozzy does some really bad things (giving all those people cancer is right up there with his masterstroke), but it was all part of his plan. I think he believes the world would have been doomed if he hadn't. Collateral damage. Would you kill thousands of people to save billions? He is the world's smartest man (followed closely by Jon, IMO, who also agrees that what he does is for the best), and I'd like to think that he makes a decision we never could simply because he is so smart.
Heh, and thanks for the recent compliments on my icons. I need to bring the funny as well as the sexy. xD Still love your Adrian in his Captain Fierce hat.
