and the only cure is MORE FEDORA.

i took my girls clothes shopping with the girl half of [livejournal.com profile] dadandgirl.

they decided that the fedora is the coolest thing in the whole damn world and that they must have one. so i bought them each one.

when you put on a fedora, you instantly channel MJ. IT'S A KNOWN FACT.

malu (in the middle) is so p.i.m.p. i love it.

LOOK AT THESE SMOOTH CRIMINAL GQMF KIDS RIGHT HERE GODDAMN.

i even bought myself one. i might get [livejournal.com profile] fmh to snap a picture of me in it later. but not right now. i look like ugly got new ugly tires on its ugly truck and then ran over my face. DDDD:

i have a newish layout to celebrate my newest obsession.

recently, i started watching an anime called "ouran high school host club." i think [livejournal.com profile] single_path had mentioned it to me a long while ago, but I didn't actually start watching it until hoku turned me on to it.

it's probably the most perfect anime ever for someone like me -- happy and extremely funny, great characterizations and sorta!twincest that i don't even have to make up.

so, i've been loving this show, and NOW, thanks to my new wife, [livejournal.com profile] icanhaspancake, i have a new pairing to obsess over. tamaki/kyouya. fffff thanks a lot, sarah.

their mommy/daddy love is so canon. i'm really crazy about them.

so, if you see a blond boy and a black-haired boy with glasses anywhere around my journal (and you will), rest easy. it is not draco/harry. it's tamaki and kyouya.

during last week's episode of 'glee' they did 'defying gravity' from the musical 'wicked.' hoku really seemed to like the song, so i put the entire soundtrack on her ipod (she's also reading the book, btw). she loves it, and surprisingly so does malu. ^_^b

the great part: the girls have found something that they both enjoy and it's musical, which pleases me to no end.

the not so great part: THEY SING THE SONGS CONSTANTLY. no, really. all the time. and hoku has this habit of latching on to one part of a song and singing that over and over and it KIND OF DRIVES ME CRAZY.

but still. i'm broadening horizons here. that's good, right?

that makes up for the fact that they both want to write ron/draco now, right?

:o

:)
sexyscholar: (Family Guy: Tell me that's not epic.)
First off, happy birthdays to my lil sis, [livejournal.com profile] feisty1 (I'll be calling you later) and [livejournal.com profile] cormallen!

Hoku gave me a lovely keepsake box that she made herself, and inside were an absolutely lovely pair of silvery teardrop earrings which I have already put on to wear to work today.

JEWELRY IS ALWAYS AWESOME.

And lookit what Malu made for my birthday:

OMG SHE MADE ME A RON DOLL AS;LFKA;LFKS

The ever-lovely [livejournal.com profile] stuckinsea gave me a dozen long-stemmed virtual roses which I must save because LJ deletes them after a time (I've saved every gift she's ever given me), and [livejournal.com profile] thrihyrne has written me delicious R/D fic that made me more than a little regretful that I have to leave my hubby and go to work. ;)

All told, it's been a good birthday so far. And I've only been up for 3 1/2 hours!

Okay. Time to work now. Have a good day everyone!

Birthday!

WHAT DO YOU MEAN "SHE'S TWELVE??!?!"

When I met her, she was seven. SEVEN. omg.

:)

Happy birthday to our lovely & brilliant future veterinarian-astronaut-saxophonist-doctor-artist-on-the-moon, Hokulani!
Thank you for letting me be a mom to you, and for happily watching Rupert Grint movies with me. ♥

Happy birthday, Love. ♥

Hokulani made First Chair in her school band for the alto sax.

BECAUSE SHE'S AWESOME.

We went to Hoku's parent-teacher conference tonight. She's brilliant, of course. Her social studies came out to tell us how bright and mature she is. My goodness, the BEAMING.

Her goal is to get a 4.0 for the next marking period. Her advisory teacher thinks that she well within her reach of making it happen.

AWESOME.

I just heard Kieran singing "1234" by Feist.

So.

My son. He's got a cast-iron gut, see?

Hoku had to do a science project for her class: make a theme park model using six simple machines (wheel and axle, pulley, lever, wedge, screw and inclined plane). The project is a collective effort, even my dad got in on the fun and made the pulley attraction.

So. Kieran, from the get-go, had a special affinity for the wheel and axle demonstration -- a ferris wheel made from a thread spool, toothpicks and marshmallows. There was much "nokieranstopdonttouchthat." He liked to watch it spin, and he liked the marshmallows.

He REALLY liked the marshmallows.

Anyhoo. Project gets turned in. Hoku gets A+++++++++. We all go YAY. Hoku decides that since she's got her A+++++++++++, she's not worried about the project anymore. So Husband lets Kieran play with the park. Kieran enjoys the park. Yay.

This morning, Husband notices the ferris wheel has been the tragic victim of KIERAN SMASH. The spool is still there, along with a pile of toothpicks.

But like the spoon, there is no marshmallow.

We are left to assume that Kieran has EATEN THOSE 17864924869 DAY-OLD MARSHMALLOWS.

And he has had no side effects. Of course we'll keep an eye on him, but still.

My son has a cast-iron gut. O_____O

Hoku and I were watching the sneaky-peeky for HBP and, after squeeing muchly over how good Tom!Draco is looking these days, moved on to the fact that Rupert going to be in a Quidditch uniform this time around.

Hoku looks at me - the unmistakable gleam of hope in her eyes...

Hoku: "Do you think it will be tight?"

Me: "I don't know. Here's to hoping!"

Both of us: *cross fingers*

My little girl is becoming a fangirl. :sniff: I'm so...proud?

Oy.

Some kind of really nasty stomach bug has now officially gone through (quite literally) all of the kids.

It started with Malu, who was nauseous for the entirety of Christmas Eve. She was better the next day and back to her normal hurricane self the day after that.

When it grabbed hold of Hoku. Hers was a much worse case -- throwing up everything she tried to keep down and an added bonus of diarrhea. You know. For fun. She was feeling better the next day as well.

Today it's hit Kieran. I got the call at work that he can't keep anything down, not even water. They've already left to take him to the doctor. With Hoku, we were able to ease her symptoms with Pepto and Immodium AD, but you can't give that stuff to a two-year-old.

And when Kieran throws up now, it's not like when he was a wee baby and could care less. Now he cries everytime he does it. :(

What the hell happened to my babies?

YAY XMAS!

That seemed to be the kids consensus for the day. Here are just two pictures from yesterday. I have more, I just have to get them off of the camera. Our new camera. XD

Now we're the proud parents of a Franklin Middle School honor roll student. Hoku made it again. XD
sexyscholar: (My Babies)
Particularly when my daughter's in it. :)

The local middle and high schools in our city have a joint Christmas parade every year, and this year, they asked some of the sixth graders to join them for the march.

Hoku was one of the kids asked to participate. XD

They played 'Jingle Bells' elebbenty-lebben times. )

We found Hoku's DS... it was under her bed. :p

We finally finished watching Driving Lessons, she and I.

And here's some of what she had to say:

"[Rupert's] the hottest tree I've seen. He's like, a really cute tree with a really cute butt."

LOLOLOLOLOOOOOOOOLOLOLOLOZ.
sexyscholar: (My Babies)
Happy, happy birthday to my beautiful girl, Hokulani! She's in double digits plus one.

As she might say, "oh em gee!"

You're growing up to be a beautiful, intelligent, and kind-hearted young lady, and I love you so much.

MWAH!
sexyscholar: (My Babies)
I showed Hoku the clip of the Late, Late Show interview with Rupert Grint, and I estimate that she squeed for about 6 of the 7 or so minutes of the clip. And she has decreed that she must see Driving Lessons, so I'll have to pick it up from Blockbuster.

No, I don't own it. Yet.

Yes, I realise this is all my fault.

My God. She's going to be eleven in two days.

Well, the girls started school today. I just e-mailed [livejournal.com profile] fmh to see how it all went. I was still there to see Hoku off, but not Malu.

Hokulani is 10 (she'll be 11 in October); she starts middle school today, and is beyond excited. She spent the bulk of yesterday packing, unpacking and re-packing her backpack. She's got binders and notebooks and dividers and calculators and pens and pencils and even a compass! (Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] mightyafrodite!) She is jazzed. She's taking a bevy of classes, including band (she'll be playing the flute) with her bestest friend, Alex. I can hear the squee-ing already. :) [livejournal.com profile] fmh went through and helped her detail her school map so she can get around without getting too lost, and we figured out where her bus picks up, so I think everything will be good there.

Maluhia starts second grade today. I think she's a little afraid, as this is the first year since she's been going to school that she hasn't been going with her sister. Last night she was admanant about not going for a little while, but she seemed to finally accept it. She's going to be in the same class as her best friend who lives down the street from us. I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing... Personally, I think it'll be good for Malu to be away from her sister for a bit. She's used to her sister doing things for her, and as a result, Malu has a strong dependency streak. It'll be good for her to stand on her on two feet and have to handle some things on her own.

I just hope it all goes okay for both of them.
